The Protected Geographic Indication Valles de Sadacia was created in 2003 under Jose Miguel Arambarri Terrero, who has been the promoter of a movement that has started a real revolution of white wines in La Rioja in the past few years. The PGI Valles de Sadacia exclusively specialises in white wines, and its aim is to strengthen the image of quality and innovation of white wines in La Rioja. It is an open and innovative space that has allowed the development of tendencies that have resulted in great opportunities in the market of whites.
Valles de Sadacia currently covers four of the seven valleys in La Rioja: Iregua, Leza, Cidacos and Alhama. In short, it is an exceptional and unique landscape that was declared a Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO in 2003. However, the aim of PGI Valles de Sadacia is to extend this surface into municipalities of the Autonomous Community of La Rioja that have the qualities to grow white varieties and that, in some cases, are not covered by the DOC Rioja.
